
Women’s Day Panel on Refugees
Carty House will be part of a panel discussion hosted by the RSA at Ottawa U.
On March 24th, 2023, the RSA hosting its third panel in honour of International Women’s Day on Contemporary Refugee Issues and the Refugee Experience. The Panel will explore contemporary refugee issues around the world, and the refugee experience from various perspectives. We are excited to host this event in person for the first time! There will be an intermission period with refreshments offered to our guests. There will also be Q&A portion of the event for attendees to ask questions.

SPEAKERS:
Chantal Tie is a litigator and educator, dedicated to social justice and the defence of human rights, especially for immigrants, women and marginalized groups.
Justine Nkurunziza is a human rights defender and a past resident of Carty House. She has been involved in many NGOs dedicated to peace, justice, and women’s rights in Burundi and was recently recognized for her outstanding service to the community of Ottawa Vanier.
Pamela Walker is a historian of Modern Europe and Britain and women’s and gender history, with interests in the history of race, the history of religion and African American history.
Louise Ebeltoft is the Manager of Operations and Refugee Services at Carty House, a transitional first home for female refugees in Ottawa.
Michelle Ndizeye is with the Refugee Sponsorship Training Program and is dedicated to immigration issues in Canadian Law.
