When I first came to Carty House, I was just stepping into the unknown place. I was overwhelmed by all the changes in my life.

At Carty House I got warm welcome – not just into a building, but into a real home. It was peaceful, supportive, and marked the beginning of a powerful transformation in my life.

Carty house became a foundation. It gave me the space and support to breath, to rest, and to rebuild. The staff were never too far from me. They were there with open hearts, listening ears, and practical help. From daily guidance to emotional support, they treated me, and every woman, with care, dignity, and compassion. The other residents, women from all over the world, became my sisters. We shared so much together: food, stories, culture, laughs, tears, and strength. We stood by each other though it all. That sisterhood, that unity, healed me in ways I can’t explain. At Carty House, I was growing.

Even after I moved out in 2025, Carty House will always be home to me. It is the place where I began to dream, where I found my voice, and where I discovered who I truly am. Because of the strong foundation Carty House gave me, I enrolled and graduated in the Social Service Worker program at Algonquin College. This program has inspired me deeply, because it aligns with what I experienced at Carty House – helping others, supporting those in need, and walking with people on their healing journey.

Today, I am working hard to give back, because I am so grateful. Carty House gave me everything I needed to start again, and now it’s my turn to serve others. I want every woman who comes after me to feel what I felt: seen, safe, supported, and strong. I am proud to say that I am standing tall because of Carty House. I carry that pride with me everywhere I go. I am not just a former resident, I am a Carty House champion of success.

Sometimes, I still can’t believe how far I have come. But I know that through faith, hard work, and the unwavering support of the Carty House community, I have become a woman full of purpose.

To Carty House supporters, you are not just helping people, you are building futures. You built mine.

And I will always carry your love, your lessons, and your legacy with me, and forever holding a special place in my heart.

And to every newcomer who steps through those doors: welcome to a peaceful, powerful place.

Welcome home.
